World gone mad #2 :: 5 blade razors

The world has gone mad.

I guess I could see the point of 2 blade razors. They worked well. I've used my 2 blade razor ever since my first shave. It does the job fine.

In recent years though, there has been a lot of 'innovation' in the razor market. I use the word innovation mockingly. Why:

  • Gillette Mach 3 was excessive
  • Mach 3 turbo was laughable
  • Schick Quattro was plain embarrassing
  • Schick Quattro Titanium was just taking the piss

But Now Gillette have launched Fusion: a 5 blade razor. This signifies the single most ridiculous piece of innovation I have ever seen! No one needs a 5 blade razor. Half the world — nearly three billion people — live on less than two dollars a day, and Gillette goes and launches a 5 blade razor.

Anyone even half interested in buying 5 blade razor should take a good hard look at themselves. You don't need this. Buying one would only make you look stupider than Gillette are making you out to be.

No wonder marketing has a bad reputation.
