I’ve just been over at GapingVoid for the first time in a while. Here are some gem quotes that Hugh has posted this week:
“If you want to have a cool brand, you have to do cool shit.”
“When somebody asks, ‘How does this social media stuff scale’, they really mean, ‘How do I become a spammer?'”
“Growth will come, I believe, not by yet more increased efficiencies, but by humanification”

I thought Diesel’s ridiculous range of footwear was good enough reason to boycott the brand.
Their new “Global Warming Ready” campaign encourages you to look good while the polar ice caps are melting.
And what’s with the white pants? I feel sick.

It’s a sad month for Melbourne as Candle Records, a local independent record label that has decided to call it quits after 12 years. Home to bands like The Lucksmiths, The Small Knives, and Golden Rough, Candle epitomizes a business that was in it for the passion, not the money.
The comments on Candle’s Guestbook say it all. Here are just a few:
“Candle records and the bands it represents has given me nothing but joy and happiness, that grew with every release and concert”
“Candle music has made us laugh, made us cry, consoled us and inspired us, it has made us see the poetry of everyday life. How can we ever thank you enough?”
“I can’t tell you how sad I am to hear that Candle is over …no seriously …totally floored.”
“This isn’t merely a record label, it’s a family. Closing down a family has a ring of tragedy about it.”
If you shut down your business next week, what would your customers say about you?
